Home furnishings store sales decline 1.1% in June July 13, 2010 WASHINGTON — The U.S. Commerce Dept. reported June sales at furniture
and home furnishings stores fell 1.1% in June from May, and overall
retail sales were off 0.5%.
According to the report, furniture sales
were $7.54 billion for the month, a decrease from $7.63 billion in May,
but up from $7.42 billion in sales for the same period a year ago. Overall
adjusted U.S. retail and food services sales in June decreased to
$360.2 billion from $362.0 billion in May. The decline was worse than
