CEBU X by the Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation, Inc. Export Development Citation

The Winning X Factor

Thanks to CFIF's aggressive marketing efforts, the dream of making Cebu a furniture design capital of Asia is fast becoming a reality.  More and more foreign buyers flock to Cebu, seeking to satisfy the exacting global demand for high quality but  reasonably priced and well-designed lifestyle furniture and furnishings.

Through CFIF's Cebu X, one of the premier trade events in the local furniture export industry, SMEs in the furniture business have found a venue to showcase their design passion and increase their foreign buyers. In 2004, Cebu X generated USD26.4 million in sales.  For the past five years, the show's sales performance has been averaging a 12 percent increase, thus proving the dynamism of Cebu's furniture industry.

CFIF has transformed Cebu X into an ideal platform for the marketing and promotion of SMEs in the furniture business in the region. CFIF has adopted the Cebu X brand to strongly symbolize excellence in design and quality, further enhancing the country''s image as a design destination in Asia.

The Export Development Citation is awarded to Cebu X for providing the focal point for the development and growth  of the Cebu Furniture Industry and strengthening the Philippine image as a design destination in Asia.

Model Provincial Cluster
(November 2007)

The Cebu Furniture Industries Foundation (CFIF) has been given recognition as the "Model Provincial Cluster" besting other industries nationwide in this category. The award was given by the Export Development Council at Malacanang Palace by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

Industry clustering is one of the strategies under the Philippine Export Development Plan 2005-2007 aimed to benefit business in the regions and provinces of the country not only in terms of increasing productivity, but also in bringing down shared manufacturing costs, encouraging novel partnerships, and stimulating opportunities for innovative entrepreneurship.
